A first-half goal by Jake Grech was enough for Hibernians to beat Gzira United 1-0 to move top of the Premier League on Tuesday.

The match winner that gave the Paolites the three points came on 36 minutes when Jake Grech beat the Maroons goalkeeper Justin Haber.

After the break Gzira tried to at least salvage a point but it was Hibernians who went very near to double their lead when on 70 minutes an Leandro Almeida direct free-kick fit the upright with goalkeeper Haber beaten.

Thanks to this result the Paolites have 23 points from 11 games, one above joint second  Wanderers and Hamrun Spartans.
