5 Hibernians players called for Malta National Squad

Five players from Hibernians are in the Malta national squad for the upcoming UEFA Euro 2020 Group F qualifier against Norway on Thursday and Romania on Sunday.

National team coach Ray Farrugia has included long-standing defenders Andrei Agius and Joseph Mbong as well as recent signing Ferdinando Apap. Jake Grech and Dunstan Vella form part of the midfield set-up.

Andrei Agius first played for the national team against Moldova on February 25th 2006. He told Hiberniansfc.mt that his most memorable game was against England at Wembley. A game to forget was the heavy loss to Bulgaria.

Midfielder Jake Grech is enjoying a good start to the season and his first Malta international was a friendly against Armenia. Malta against Spain is the game he best remembers.

Dunstan Vella made his international debut in a friendly against Georgia in 2017.

Malta against Armenia was the first time Ferdinando Apap made his debut for Malta.

Joseph Mbong also was part of the Malta team that played in that friendly international. His most memorable game was against the Faroe Islands at home. A game he would like to forget was Malta against Kosovo. We wish our players all the best for the upcoming Malta international matches.
